S.Africa avg 3-mth T-bill rate up at 7.70 pct

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - The average discount rate for South African three-month Treasury Bills rose to 7.70 percent on Friday from 7.67 percent last week.

The average yield was 7.85 percent from 7.82 percent, the Reserve Bank said. Applications for the 2.15 billion rand of bills on offer totalled 6.09 billion rand.

The average discount rate for six-month bills was 8.13 percent from 8.10 percent, while the average yield was 8.47 percent from 8.44 percent. Applications for the 300 million rand of six-month bills on offer amounted to 913 million rand.

The average discount rate for 150 million rand of nine-month bills was 8.19 percent versus 8.20 percent, while the average yield was at 8.72 percent from 8.74 percent.

Bids amounted to 750 million rand.
