Johannesburg (IBTimes.com) - Absa has upped its security measures on its internet banking site to protect customers from increasing internet fraud, the group said.
According to the bank, customers who choose the full suite will benefit from the extra measures.
Moreover, the Random Verification Number service, or the automatically generated 'one-time password' will also further protect customers who buy prepaid cellphone time or Telkom airtime on the website.
"The new measures are in response to the reports of fraudsters accessing the account details of customers and then using that information to buy prepaid airtime via internet banking," Venete Klein, Executive Director: Absa Retail Banking said on Thursday.
"Extending the deployment of our successful Random Verification Number service is in line with our strategic action plan for secure internet banking."
