Nairobi (IBTimes.com) - Samsung Electronics yesterday unveiled its latest LCD TV in the local market.Samsutech Corporation managing director, Priyesh Patel, said the company will spend Sh3.6 million to advertise the TV in the next one month. "We want to capitalise on the World Cup to sell 500 sets which we have imported," he said.

Samsutech Corporation are the local distributors of Samsung Electronics products Patel said the 40-inch set will retail at Sh250,000, the 32-inch set at Sh150,000 while the 20-inch TV for Sh60,000.
Speaking at launch, Samsung Electronics assistant manager for the Nairobi office, Simon Kariithi, defended the pricing, saying the product was meant for the high-end market. However, Samsung Electronics managing director, Han Bae Park, said prices would come down as production increases.
The new LCD TV sold 3,000 sets in South Korea in the first week of introduction, with sales increasing to 50,000 in the second week. The TV has also received good reception in Germany, North America and in Belgium where shoppers preferred it for quality images.
The thickness of the LCD TV’s, nicknamed Bordeaux, is three inches and it has been designed to reduce power consumption, while providing undistorted images from all directions.
