Construction of a new 1,000 room Hilton Hotel and a 500-room Waldorf Astoria is expected to break ground at the end of this year, with the hotels scheduled to open in the summer of 2009 in the Bonnet Creek resort development.
Project developers and owners include Merrill Lynch Global Principal Investments, GEM Realty Capital Inc., Bonnet Creek Venture, Ltd. and Hilton Hotels Corp. Hilton will also manage the hotels.
"With this outstanding location, we have an unbeatable opportunity to increase our share of this coveted market with two distinctive upscale hotels," said Hilton chief operating officer Matthew J. Hart.
Shares of Hilton rose 25 cents to $27.72 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
