Nairobi (IBTimes.com) - Costs savings can be achieved for travel agents and their customers, as e-tickets increasingly becoming preferred method of ticketing in the world especially Europe.
Galileo Kenya’s mother company and global travel giant, Cendant Travel Distribution Services (TDS), has introduced Galileo eTracker, a product for travel agents already using its leading global distribution system across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
Speaking during the launch in Nairobi last week, the company's general manager Dickson Soo said the web-based solution enables agents to view the current status of all electronically issued tickets (e-tickets) using its extensive search and sort capabilities. Mr Soo said that with the ever increasing deployment of electronic ticketing by airlines, agents have highlighted the need to track e-tickets, as approximately four per cent of those issued remain unused.
He said that 70 per cent of air tickets issued in 2006 will likely be electronic with the International Association of Travel Agents (IATA) supporting its vision of 100 per cent e-ticketing by the end of 2007 December.
Unused ticket segments potentially cost clients and agencies millions of shillings every year.
Galileo eTracker enables these tickets to be tracked and voided easily, with no need to log into the central Galileo system. Status reports can be produced at any time, and downloaded for use in applications such as Microsoft Excel, giving both the agency and the client immediate transparency and enabling them to manage the bookings appropriately in a timely fashion.
