Nairobi (IBTimes.com) - Governor Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi of Kaduna State would soon embark on discussions with Chinese investors over the take over of Kaduna Textiles Limited (KTL).

Makarfi, who made this known in his address at the May Day celebrations Monday in Kaduna, said he has received invitation to discuss the moribund company with the investors who have shown interest in acquiring it.

"There is a letter of invitation from China over the textile industries in the state, I prayed that the deliberations will be positive to enable the revival of the textile industries," he said.

He called on the federal and state governments to come to the support of the local textile industries, as well as promote them to ensure that they are resuscitated.

Makarfi added that those workers who were given houses by the state government have 25 years to pay back adding that the state can not increase its workers salary now as that would only compound their problem through added tax and increase in prices. He however assured them that his government will consider the increment of its worker's allowances with increase in its finances.

Makarfi also donated foodstuffs worth N20 million to workers who have been retrenched, are owed and those whose employers have closed down, to alleviate their sufferings.
